Evangelical Theological Seminary in Cairo equips pastors and lay leaders devoted to proclaiming the love of Jesus Christ in word and deed throughout the Arab World. The seminary is based in Cairo with branches in Alexandria and in al-Minya (in southern Egypt). ETSC has been training and sending Arab Christian leaders for 150 years now. ETSC was established by Presbyterian missionaries in the 19th century, and the Seminary initally began on a boat on the Nile. FPC has been in partnership with ETSC since 2000. In 2002, FPC took a small vision team to see first hand the work being done by ETSC and other Presbyterian efforts in Egypt. It was on the trip that our vision for an even greater partnership evolved. During conversations wtih Dr. Swailem, the team introduced ETSC to the Perspectives on the World Christian Movement course, and later helped fund the translation of Perspectives into Arabic. FPC significantly supported the graduate /doctoral studies of Tharwat Wabha, now the Chair of Mission Department at ETSC. In addition to funding, members and staff of FPC are deeply engaged and in relationship with the staff and friends at the Seminary. We are very grateful to be able to provide financial support, but we are even more grateful to be friends and partners with such amazing brothers and sisters at ETSC.
