Story told by Pedro Palomino on February 13, 2017

My name is Pedro Palomino.

I was born and raised in the 'Northside' of Houston, Texas on August 3, 1989.

My parents, Mexican immigrants, raised me and my siblings in a home with Catholic traditions. This was my first introduction to God and to the church, but we were not avid church goers or practitioners. This resulted in us having a limited understanding of our beliefs. Due to this lack of focus on growing our faith, I never learned how to pray, worship or even get a chance to know Jesus. I went most of my life molding myself to my environment and the people in it. I tried to be a role model citizen in a world that changed every day.

This past summer, I struck up a conversation with a gentleman while walking in the park. I was able to easily speak to him about my life even though I had just met him. We became instant friends and agreed we would continue to get together to discuss life's big questions. He later invited me to join a group every Sunday night for what was called the Alpha course.

Through this class, I was able to have a safe environment to learn and discuss what it means to be a Christian. I had spent 27 years searching for direction. In a matter of weeks, the Alpha course helped shape and guide my focus to Jesus. I opened the door to Him on our last day of Alpha during our retreat. Since that day, I have felt most at peace. It's only been three short months, but the love and grace God has shown me only fortifies my belief.

Because of Alpha and the intentional prayers and work from members of this church, I can stand here in front of you and declare that Jesus is my Lord and Savior.

Alpha will begin meeting February 19 on Sunday’s at 12:30pm in the Living Room. Click here for more information.
