Caring For Our Medical Center Neighbors

Story told by Kevin & Amy Bratton on May 7, 2014

New Apartment Ministry for Medical Center Guests

First Presbyterian has recently joined The Church Apartment Ministry of Houston that makes apartment units available for out-of-town patients at a reduced rate for up to six months. Bain and Brady Head researched the ministry and encouraged FPC to join the other Houston churches that provide this ministry. With support from their small groups, the Trinity SS class, Mary Ella Price and the Boomers SS class, the apartment was furnished with the everyday supplies along with the emotional, spiritual and physical support the guests will need.

After the first couple completed their stay they sent the following note of appreciation:

“Words could never express our gratitude for your involvement in the church apartment ministry. We have truly been amazed by how God has seemingly been working ahead of us to prepare our way as we navigate this season of our lives. Being able to return to a comfortable, home-like apartment after appointments and hospital visits was a gift during the most overwhelming time of our lives. It was an answer to our prayers! Our hearts have been touched by the acts of kindness and sweet hospitality offered by the Spirit-led members of First Presbyterian. Thank you for sharing the love of Christ with us and helping make the load on this path a little lighter.  Love in Christ, Kevin and Amy Bratton (Unicoi, Tennessee).”
