Outreach Priority

Vision Priority: OutreachThe new discipleship model will equip our congregants to worship God with their wholelives and live out their faith “here”: where they live, work, play, and worship. The newdiscipleship model forms people to:● Become more like Jesus as they grow in love for Him and in community● Thoughtfully engage the culture with a biblical and theological mindset● Love like Jesus to live out the mission of JesusPeople need to be equipped with the practices and postures that will help themexperience life-transforming closeness with Christ. A new discipleship model for thechallenges of today must equip and send people with the biblical, theological, andrelational skills to engage the world around them with the gospel. This requiresaddressing the complex issues that all generations are experiencing in the changingculture, as well as delving into the questions we are asking in our particular life stages.A discipleship pathway must make it clear where to go and how to grow at FPC.

Understanding the outreach priority

As a church Here to Serve, we accept as both our mission and our priority the call to carry the Gospel to Houston and the world. While we have been faithful to this mission for more than 180 years, our methods and strategies have changed and evolved with the culture and community around us. As we look to the future, we again face an opportunity to create new avenues for the Gospel.

Constructing A New Outreach Model: Building Gospel Bridges
To address the changing landscape, we are seeking to implement a new outreach model based on the idea of Building Gospel Bridges. Utilizing FPC’s unique attributes, we seek to expand existing relationships as well as create outreach connections from FPC to adjacent neighborhoods, across our city, and to global communities.

Building Gospel Bridges channels the gifts of the FPC community with the resources God has given to this church. And by integrating with the Formation, Community, and Worship priority teams, we also seek to create more opportunities for sharing faith and increasing FPC’s Gospel footprint in Houston and the world.
