Equipping Seminars

SEASONAL UPDATE

Due to the temporary restrictions implemented by our national and local government leaders, all in-person gatherings have been postponed or cancelled to limit the spread of COVID-19. However, some classes and groups are still meeting via Zoom and other methods because, though we are practicing physical distance, the church is called to move toward one another in loving, encouraging relationship. We hope you will be able to easily join a class of your preferred style or life-stage to find relational stability and rich Scripture study during this changing season!

Equipping Seminars have finished for the Spring 2020 semester, but please visit our Sunday School or Small Groups page to connect with other community groups. Feel free to reach out to Catie Smith, Director of Discipleship, at csmith@fpchouston.org to connect with a leader about his or her specific group or with any other questions about this unique season.

In addition to Small Groups and Sunday School classes, we are providing many other resources to support you and your household during this time. Please visit our Discipleship Page below to access devotional material, prayer tools, and more encouragement during this new rhythm of life.

DISCIPLESHIP RESOURCES

Marriage Beginnings

9:30 AM | Engaged and Newly Married Couples | LC 227/228 | Sundays February 23-March 29

We encourage those who are considering marriage but not yet engagedengaged, and newly married couples to join us for this six-week Sunday School Class. Marriage is both a gift from God and a means by which we display God's faithfulness to the world. Because of this reality, thoughtful preparation for this covenant relationship and its journey is necessary. This is beneficial both before and even shortly after marriage.

FPC offers a six-week seminar that addresses the biblical meaning of marriage, discusses common issues couples face, and provides vital tools to help navigate your relationship. The class is taught by members of FPC, pastors, and family counseling professionals. The class facilitators are Alan and Claudia Stewart.

Whether you are considering marriage, are engaged, or have already been married for a few months or years, this class is beneficial to all as we work towards glorifying our Lord in the way we love our future or current spouse. Join us as we prepare to love one another well together!

Parenting Beginnings

9:40 AM | New and Expecting Parents | FH 154 | Next Dates Coming Soon

Our hope is that new and expecting parents would join us for the Parenting Beginnings six-week Sunday School Class.

Stacey Rockwell, Director of Children and Family, will be leading a class on parenting newborns. This six-week discussion and reflection group is perfect for anyone that is considering having an infant, about to have an infant, or currently has an infant.

Stacey Rockwell will facilitate the group using Your Newborn Promise Project: A Christian Pre-Parenting Primer. The guide walks us through scripture that encourages reflection on our relationships with each other, our own parents, and God, as we take on the responsibility of being Christian parents.
