We often talk about the things that define our community—our place in this city…our commitment to serve…our focus on being a body of believers steeped in the Word of God. This year FPC Pastors, designated leaders, and representative Covenant Partners will take steps to prayerfully discern God’s vision for our church through our 200th year. But during this time, we cannot stand still…
During the 2023-24 ministry year—as we worship, grow in faith, respond to God’s call to serve, and support our Vision team in prayer—we ask that our community come together for a season of renewed focus on the purposes for which God first placed us here: for the Gospel and for Houston.
For the Gospel. There is no question that our primary work as Christians and as a Church is to spread the truth of God’s Word and the promise of salvation. As we seek to know Him better through worship, prayer, and study, we are better equipped to live lives that honor Him and draw others to the Christian faith. During this season, we will maintain this focus with a continued emphasis on Biblical teaching and meaningful opportunities to gather in community so that we might know Him better in every season and stage of our faith.
For Houston. Moving beyond the call to know and grow in relationship with Him is the command to “Go.” This year, we continue our efforts to both encourage and give—through our time, talents, and treasures—to the work of the Kingdom right here where we live, work, and play. This is not to say that we will not support the ministry work of our partners serving faithfully around the world, but rather that we will seek to reinvest ourselves in the work we can put our hands to on a daily basis. The work of the Gospel here in this city.
As an illustration of our year-long priority, each week of our stewardship campaign, we will share video testimonies from our community to show what it means to be Here for the Gospel, Here for Houston.
